Serials Solutions announces Cost and Collection Management features for 360 Resource Manager

2007 news release regarding the launch of Cost and Collection Management features for Serials Solutions® 360 Resource Manager.

Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest CSA, has announced the launch of Cost and Collection Management features for Serials Solutions® 360 Resource Manager. These new modules are the first step in a series of features being developed by Serials Solutions that will support e-resource usage reporting and cost analysis.

360 Resource Manager provides librarians with a central interface to organize e-resource licensing information, track vendor contacts, and manage the subscription lifecycle. Cost and Collections Management features help libraries further optimize e-resource management using one complete and integrated solution.

“The launch of Cost and Collection Management features for 360 Resource Manager is a milestone for e-resource access and management services,” says Jeff Aipperspach, Product Manager at Serials Solutions, “360 Resource Manager is the only hosted ERM, the first ERM with a fully integrated knowledgebase, and now the most complete ERM on the market.”

The Collection Management feature is unique among ERM applications. Collections are groups of resources organized by common metadata, which can be defined in a way that fits the unique structural needs of any library. They provide distinct and intuitive ways to group information, are simple to create, and can be shared among library staff. For example, a library may create collections based on consortia databases, open-access journals, trial status, funding source, and much more.

Cost Management helps libraries optimize e-resources by supplying a central location to track cost information attached to resources or collections. This information, including invoicing, price caps, price models, consortia purchases, and more, can be administered at a granular level; up to four fund or budget codes can be associated with each item.

“Collections Management is a welcome improvement that will allow me to organize information about my Library’s electronic resources in a way that better reflects the reality of how resources are purchased and managed,” says Beth Levine, Collection Development Technician at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Resource Center, a Serials Solutions customer who trialed the new features. “With Cost Management, we can finally integrate financial and budget information that we currently track manually in various spreadsheets and file locations. All of this, coupled with the new, intuitive interface, definitely improves workflow within the system itself.”

Over 114 libraries worldwide subscribe to Serials Solutions 360 Resource Manager.
