Serials Solutions and Ulrich's align businesses to deliver complementary solutions

Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest, today announced that Ulrichsweb.com and Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System are joining the Serials Solutions family of e-resource management tools for libraries. These services are the online products associated with Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory. Beginning August 1, 2007, Ulrichsweb.com and Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System will be sold exclusively through the Serials Solutions sales organization worldwide.

"We have aligned Serials Solutions and Ulrich’s to further their development under a unified vision,” says Matt Dunie, president of ProQuest, “Together, Serials Solutions and Ulrich’s online services provide libraries and publishers with the broadest and deepest coverage of serials information available anywhere."

Since 1932, Ulrich’s has been the serials resource that librarians trust to provide unbiased, in-depth bibliographic information about journals, magazines, newspapers and other periodicals published around the world. Ulrich’s was among the very first partners to establish an ongoing relationship with Serials Solutions when the company was founded in 2001.  Mutual subscribers benefit from bi-directional linking between Ulrichsweb.com and Serials Solutions AMS. In recent years, additional opportunities have resulted in greater interoperability between Ulrich’s products and Serials Solutions 360 Link and Serials Solutions 360 Search.

Yvette Diven, product manager for Ulrich’s at Serials Solutions says, “This move is something very special for Ulrich’s and Serials Solutions because our relationship has been in place for so long. Over the past several years, librarians have told us how bringing these two product families under one umbrella would be a huge help to them. Now we have the chance to build even more interoperability between the products and introduce new customers to Ulrich’s and to Serials Solutions. It’s going to be exciting for everyone.”

Ulrichsweb.com is updated each week to provide the latest information available on more than 300,000 publications. Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System helps libraries Identify, analyze, evaluate, and create reports with detailed information about print and electronic serials. Publishers use this service to compare offerings to competitors, analyze details of any publisher’s offerings, and make better decisions using informed, statistical data. Ulrich’s Serials Analysis System augments the assessment tools Serials Solutions provides for library-specific usage reporting and analysis.

“Serials Solutions recognizes that aligning these businesses creates a new opportunity to deliver complementary solutions to both companies’ customers,” says Jane Burke, General Manager of Serials Solutions, “Librarians, researchers and other serials information users can look forward to additional integration of Ulrich’s and Serials Solutions products in 2008 and beyond.”
