The Summon Service Supports the Creative Endeavors of Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) selected the Summon discovery service from Serials Solutions, a ProQuest business.

SEATTLE, WA, January 7, 2014 - Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) selected the Summon discovery service from Serials Solutions, a ProQuest business. The Summon service’s single, unified index was a key factor in the library staff’s decision, allowing their wide range of electronic resources to be discovered via a single, powerful search interface. By implementing the Summon service, along with the 360 Link OpenURL link resolver, RMCAD will support the creative endeavors of their students by enabling them to access all of the libraries resources in a simple search.

"We chose Summon because we needed a technologically current and easy to use single search methodology to access all of our separate databases and individual online resources. Our community of artists and designers relies on research and inspiration to support creative endeavors and successfully complete assigned tasks," relayed Hugh Thurlow, Library Director at RMCAD.

Meeting expectations for what a modern search should be, the Summon service provides a complete and compelling discovery experience expressly designed to satisfy the needs of today’s users by allowing them to navigate across all of the library’s resources. Easily connecting students to full text resources, 360 Link OpenURL link resolver, powered by the most complete, accurate, and up-to-date knowledgebase available further enhances the research experience.

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is an intimate community based in Denver, Colorado. As a community of creatives, they are dedicated to the personal success of each of its students. In support of their dedication, the library staff conducted an 18 month evaluation, looking closely at several discovery services before choosing the Summon discovery service and 360 Link OpenURL link resolver for their growing distance education program.

"We examined the many library discovery services available and decided upon Summon because of their industry experience working with content providers, substantial knowledge of library users, and established implementation and training procedures," continued Thurlow.
