University of Cincinnati Adopts Serials Solutions Summon™ Discovery Service

Serials Solutions®, a business unit of ProQuest® LLC, announced today that the University of Cincinnati Libraries have selected Serials Solutions Summon™ web-scale discovery service.

May 23, 2011 - Seattle - Serials Solutions®, a business unit of ProQuest® LLC, announced today that the University of Cincinnati Libraries have selected Serials Solutions Summon™ web-scale discovery service to enhance the accessibility of its vast array of e-resources and library materials.

With the Summon™ service, researchers at the University of Cincinnati (UC) will now experience improved speed and discoverability across the library’s full breadth of subscribed databases, e-resources and physical materials. From a single search box located prominently on the UC Libraries homepage, the Summon™ service provides quick and easy access to the library’s resources on any topic.

“As our library collection continues to grow and expand each year, ensuring that resources are fully accessed and utilized has become a top priority for us,” said Daniel Gottlieb, associate dean, collections and technical services, University of Cincinnati. “We are excited to implement the Summon service as its efficiency and ease-of-use will enable our users to quickly discover and connect to the wealth of content available in our libraries.”

Its libraries feature 94,000 journal and periodic titles and content from more than 6,800 publishers, in addition to more than three million library catalog records. The UC Libraries’ more than 230 million indexed items serve more than 41,000 students on campus. Through the Summon™ service, users are able to search a single, unified index of the library’s vast collections across all formats in one instant search.

Since it is offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS), Serials Solutions continues to enhance and improve the features and functionality of the Summon™ service in real-time to ensure users receive relevant results with unprecedented speed.
