University of Wyoming to be honored at ALA MidWinter

Serials Solutions, a business unit of ProQuest Information and Learning, has announced that the University of Wyoming is the 200th subscriber to Central Search, the company’s federated search product. University of Wyoming became Serials Solutions’ 200th Central Search customer in December, 20 months after the application debuted in April 2005. Central Search is among the company’s fastest growing services.

Central Search provides a clear starting point for patron research by allowing access to a wide variety of library resources from a single, easy to use interface. The application set a new industry standard with fast setup time (6-8 weeks) and unlimited library support. Recently, Serials Solutions received acclaim for dramatically enhancing the exploratory capability of federated search by integrating Results Clustering into Central Search. Results Clustering organizes search results into topically faceted groupings for fast and efficient access.

“Central Search with Results Clustering has truly made Serials Solutions the market leader in federated search,” says Jane Burke, general manager of Serials Solutions. “What better way to celebrate the success and growth of Central Search than by recognizing its 200th subscriber.” Serials Solutions welcomed the University of Wyoming as a Central Search client on December 1, 2006 and plans to honor the library during ALA Midwinter in Seattle.

“The University of Wyoming is delighted to be recognized as Serials Solutions’ 200th Central Search customer,” says Maggie Farrell, Dean of Libraries at the University of Wyoming. “We look forward to Serials Solutions providing an integrated solution to our many databases and bringing seamless searching to our students and faculty.”

Founded in 1887 on the mountain-dotted plains of Laramie, the University of Wyoming provides baccalaureate and graduate programs in more than 180 fields of study. University of Wyoming Libraries bring Central Search with Results Clustering to over 13,000 students.
