Most people don’t think much of taxes, unless it’s when you play it for 12 points in Scrabble®.

However, we are rapidly approaching the start of many Obamacare provisions, so it’s time to consider the new premium tax credits for health insurance. ABI/INFORM and the Accounting & Tax databases have numerous articles on the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act, encompassing news items in publications such as the McClatchy-Tribune Business News and in-depth examinations of the latest IRS releases in titles like the Internal Revenue Bulletin and Practical Tax Strategies.

In the April 2013 issue of Accounting Today, authors George G. Jones and Mark A. Luscombe examine the employer and individual mandates and the premium tax credit.  2014 Affordable Care Act provisions begin to get noticed.

An article in the July 2013 issue of Employee Benefit Plan Review discusses determining the minimum value for the tax credit.  IRS, Treasury Department Issue Proposed Rules Governing Minimum Value, Affordability, and Wellness Programs.

Journals will continue to examine the topic to help you out of the Obamacare quandary (a word that gets you 21 Scrabble® points!). To keep up on the latest articles, under the Advanced Search feature, simply search the Subject headings Tax credits AND Health insurance.
