This unique collection of family letters consists of three family collections containing correspondence written to Mary and Catherine Byles by family members and friends.
Following the Siege of Boston, Mather Byles, Jr. removed his family to Halifax, Nova Scotia, leaving his Loyalist father and his equally Loyalist sisters, Mary and Catherine, behind in Boston. The letters, which comprise the main body of the collection, provide personal accounts of a family torn apart over the Revolutionary conflict.
Titles from the Massachusetts Historical Society Collections may be purchased by individual reel.
