Overview
Lambeth Palace Library, founded in 1612, is the historic library of the Archbishops of Canterbury. Few libraries hold such comprehensive collections of English ecclesiastical history including an extensive range of recusant literature providing a rich resource for scholars of historical controversy. The Library also has an exceptional collection of pamphlets, together with large holdings relating to the Anglican Church in Africa, America, Australia, Canada and India.
The Lambeth Palace Library Catalogue on microfiche reproduces 170,000 catalogue cards for 150,000 items from the fifteenth century to modern times, making it a unique and important reference work for scholars not only of ecclesiastical, but also of political, social, and legal history.
