In our Extraordinary Employee series, ProQuest dives into the lives of our colleagues, asking them how they joined ProQuest, what they do, and what makes ProQuest such a unique and rewarding place to work.

Today, we interviewed Nevena Zorova-Georgieva, Senior Regional Marketing Specialist, the UK and Ireland.

What do you do at ProQuest?
I am a Senior Regional Marketing Specialist for our UK and Ireland market. I work closely with all parts of the business to deliver a customer-focused marketing strategy. My role is to lead the development of our regional marketing plans, including organising events, managing digital campaigns, creating product collateral, and engaging in customer communications.

Why is the work you do so important to our customers?
I have the pleasure of working closely with customers to develop tools and resources for their institutions. These materials help students discover the wealth of information provided by our platforms to enhance their research experience and drive better research outcomes.

What’s your professional background – anything interesting or unique to share?
Prior to joining ProQuest, I worked as a Digital Communications Coordinator at TeraView, a Cambridge University spin-off specializing in imaging systems, and before that, I did a year-long internship at Avery Dennison’s labels and packaging department in Leiden, the Netherlands working on a re-branding project.

What motivated you to get into your current field?
I have always been interested in business and marketing was a natural fit for my skills. It’s a dynamic field where no two days are the same and I can be creative and can communicate with people from around the world.

What brought you to ProQuest? What’s one thing that surprised you about working here?
I started working at ProQuest just before I finished my master’s degree and never expected that my first “proper” job will take me on a seven-year journey with the company. I didn’t know much about the EdTech industry but quickly realized that our customers are an extraordinary community with a real passion for supporting students and researchers every day.

What do you like about working here – both the job itself and the rewards/benefits?
Working in our Cambridge office can be a lot of fun. It’s a great community of colleagues that gets to celebrate successes together, engage in charitable work and fundraising, and is also very supportive of each other. It’s great that the company provides multiple perks, from Health Shield to Cycle to Work schemes to Mentorship and Counseling.

What are your ultimate career aspirations?
I would like to keep developing my skills and growing as a marketing professional. I’m fascinated by the impact of my role has not only on business results but also on our customers. Ultimately my goal is to help raise the profile of my department within our industry to become a center of excellence for field marketing.

What other fun and interesting things do you enjoy doing? Have you found anyone at ProQuest that shares your interest?
Beyond ProQuest, I enjoy sports and traveling.
