Want an insider’s look into what it’s like to work for one of the world’s leading education technology companies? We’ve got you covered. In our Extraordinary Employee series, ProQuest dives into the lives of our colleagues, asking them how they joined ProQuest, what they do, and what makes ProQuest such a unique and rewarding place to work.

Today, we interviewed Anas Abdelhadi, Regional Sales Manager, the Middle East and Africa.

What do you do at ProQuest?
I work for ProQuest as a Regional Sales Manager responsible for managing ProQuest business in the Middle East and Africa.

My core responsibilities include working with Universities, Institutions, and Governments to help them achieve their core learning & research objectives.

I lead a diverse group of professionals who are based in the UAE and South Africa with a mission of delivering better research, better learning, better insights. We help people change their world.

Why is the work you do so important to our customers?
We established ourselves here in the region in 2005 with the objective of providing “quality” customer experience, locally. ProQuest has an ambitious global strategy and my role here is to ensure local execution of this strategy considering the local culture, traditions, and values.

What’s your professional background – anything interesting or unique to share?
I started my professional career as a pre-sales engineer. I switched to sales following a recommendation from one of my colleagues who I accompanied for a meeting. He felt I could blend my technical and inter-personal skills seamlessly if I moved to sales. And, that was it!

What motivated you to get into your current field?
Education has always been a top priority for me, and I believe it is important to provide quality education resources at all levels. ProQuest is considered a leader in the field of collection, organization, and publishing of information. I enjoy the learning and sharing of information I get after every meeting in the sector I deal with and the energy and excitement that each meeting generates.

What brought you to ProQuest? What’s one thing that surprised you about working here?
I came to ProQuest through a referral who recommended me for the job. During the first weeks in ProQuest, I was very pleased to find myself working with such a diverse team from around the globe. That was certainly a very pleasant experience.

What do you like about working here – both the job itself and the rewards/benefits?
There are many things I could mention here. But certainly, the work environment and team spirit come first in my view. Also, you’ve got to be very proud working for a leading EdTech company with so many innovative solutions and futuristic leadership vision. Through my 11 years career with ProQuest I have got the chance to win QFE (Quest For Excellence trip) twice. Such an unforgettable reward & recognition from the organization to myself and the family.
