ProQuest® International Newsstand Widens Offering with 35 New Titles

Newspapers from Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Middle East are among the 35 additional titles now widely available to libraries subscribing to International Newsstand .

"ProQuest continues to expand its current news program and improve our international news offering to provide diverse perspectives," said Rod Gauvin, senior vice president of publishing for ProQuest.  "We are dedicated to meeting needs of researchers wherever they are and providing local news to our customers around the world."

The latest additions to ProQuest International Newsstand  include: The Argus (Cape Town, South Africa), a community focused newspaper covering issues important to the people of the Western Cape; The Mercury (Durban, South Africa), serving KwaZulu-Natal for over 150 years, bringing its readers top news and financial reporting; regional newspapers such as The Corkman, Carlow People, and The Drogheda Independent, providing local news from around Ireland; The New Zealand Herald, founded in 1863, reporting news from a centrist-left editorial stance on international geopolitics and a socially conservative domestic stance, and The Daily Star (Beirut. Lebanon), presenting news from across the Middle East.

ProQuest International Newsstand now includes over 220 newspapers.  For nearly all of them, complete, full-text articles are available in the ASCII format.  Each issue of every newspaper is indexed thoroughly, so researchers have access to not only top news stories but also detailed information on sports, business, and the arts around the world.  Citations and abstracts are available for all articles saving researchers time.  Titles in ProQuest International Newsstand are also available individually, so libraries can create a custom bundle that meets the unique needs of their patrons.

This database is available on the ProQuest platform, a premier information access and retrieval system.  With basic and advanced searching, it is suitable for everyone, from novice researchers to experienced information professionals.  Natural language searching, SmartSearch, RSS feeds, and the Topic Guide are just a few of the features that help users get to the exact information they need, quickly and easily.
