Publishing veteran will help guide lauded information industry organization

Mary Sauer-Games, ProQuest's vice-president of STM and humanities publishing, has been elected to the board of directors of the National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS™), a global non-profit that serves the information community. Ms. Sauer-Games joins a 12-member cross-sector board that helps steer the group. She begins her three-year term on February 28.

"This is a wonderful honor and opportunity. I believe in the work of NFAIS and its ability to improve the world's knowledgebase by gathering its most important stakeholders for work on common causes," said Ms. Sauer-Games. "I'm eager to contribute to its success – and the success of its member organizations - in a direct way."

NFAIS is volunteer-powered membership organization that serves content and technology providers, including database creators, publishers, libraries, host systems, information technology developers, content management providers, and other related groups. A partnership of commercial, nonprofit, and government organizations, NFAIS creates a forum in which to address common interests through education and advocacy.

Ms. Sauer-Games will bring 20 years of experience in publishing, strategic planning, marketing and sales to the board. She joined ProQuest in 2002 as Director, Chadwyck-Healey North American Publishing, and since then, has been appointed to successively more challenging roles. Among her many achievements at the company is her contribution to the development of next-generation scholarly research products that have set new industry standards for quality and responsiveness. Prior to joining ProQuest, Ms. Sauer-Games held several leadership positions at The Gale Group (now part of Cengage Learning), including vice president of e-Learning. She has also held various marketing and sales positions at Mullen Advertising, R.L Polk & Co., and Data Resources, Inc (now part of McGraw-Hill). She holds a BA from Kalamazoo College and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Ms. Sauer-Games is one of a variety of ProQuest executives who serve in leadership positions in non-profit organizations that work to advance knowledge and learning, improve communities and support libraries. The company is known for its advocacy and support of volunteerism.
